Gavle Goat

Gävle Goat

On the December 1st, 1966 the Swedish city of Gävle raised a large straw goat, a so called Swedish Yule Goat, as a Christmas display. On the night of New Year’s Eve it was burned down, which started a famously bizarre Christmas tradition in Gävle.

2007 Helicopter Coup

The security firm Tarantsec was hired to guard the goat. Two men tried to bribe a guard for 50 000 Swedish crown (SEK) to stand down 5 minutes so they can kidnap the goat with helicopter. Their alledged plan was to fly the goat to Stockholm, and land it at Stureplan.
